As many as 20 healthcare workers of Delhi's LNJP hospital including 11 doctors have tested positive for COVID-19, confirmed Dr Suresh Kumar, Medical Director of Loknayak Jaiprakash (LNJP) Hospital on Thursday.
In a conversation with ANI, Dr Suresh Kumar, Medical Director of LNJP Hospital said, "Total 20 health care workers here have got COVID-19 infection, out of which 11 are doctors, 8 are nurses and one is a sanitation worker. This is a matter of concern because if only our doctors and nurses are safe, we will be able to take care of the patients. If our workforce gets affected, then it may affect our fight against COVID-19."
This represents a major setback as LNJP Hospital is Delhi's largest COVID hospital.
The development also comes at a time when around 50 doctors of AIIMS, Delhi have also gone into isolation after some tested positive while others showed symptoms of COVID-19.
Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday also met doctors and health workers who have tested positive for COVID-19 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
"Many of our doctors, health workers have been affected by COVID-19 while serving patients, I pray for their good health," the Union Minister told media persons after the meeting.
