Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasised the need to bring in more changes especially with the advent of 5G technology and use of artificial intelligence (AI) as their impact on industry, medicine, education and agriculture will be dynamic.

Addressing the fifth post budget webinar today, the Prime Minister sought suggestions from stakeholders to chalk out ways in which these technologies can be deployed better for the welfare of the common citizen.

“Can we identify 10 such problems of the society which can be solved by AI”, he said, adding that India must learn from global best practices to strengthen the trust with the society.

He also said that India must gain experiences from best practices around the world and the work carried out in other countries to build trust between the government and citizens.

“We are creating modern digital infrastructure in India while also ensuring that the benefits of the digital revolution reach every section of the society,” he said.

He also noted that India of the 21st century has been focusing on empowering its citizens with the use of technology to ultimately boost ease of living.

“Today people do not see the government as an obstacle; rather, people see our government as a catalyst for new opportunities. Certainly, technology has played a big role in this,” the Prime Minister said citing examples of implementation of One Nation One Ration Card and JAM (Jan Dhan-Aadhar-Mobile) trinity, Arogya Setu and CoWin App among others.

Modi added that in the last few years, ease of living for the citizens has been significantly enhanced.

Outlining the difference of outlook between this government and the previous ones Modi noted though sections of people earlier always looked for government intervention their entire life was spent in the absence of the required facilities.

“The lack of trust between the government and the people is the result of a mindset of slavery”, the Prime Minister said.
