In another drug bust, Customs officers at the Delhi airport have arrested a Ugandan woman who was trying to smuggle close to 1 kg of cocaine into the country.</p>

The woman arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) after having swallowed 91 capsules containing a total of 992 grams of cocaine, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.</p>

Customs officers had identified the Ugandan passenger, who arrived at Terminal-3, IGIA a few days back. The gait and body movements of the passenger were unusual so the Customs officers maintained a vigil on her. After a while, the passenger crossed the green channel and was approaching the exit gate of the international arrival hall, when the customs officers finally intercepted her, the statement explained.</p>

Upon questioning, the passenger finally divulged that she had swallowed 91 capsules of narcotic substance.</p>
<p>
The capsules were extracted from her system at the government-run Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in the city over a number of days through a proper medical procedure. A lab test confirmed that of white powder that came out of the capsules was heroin, according to the official statement.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>
<p>
The passenger has been arrested for violating various provisions of the NDPS Act. Further investigation in the matter is in process.</p>
<p>
This is the second big detection of Cocaine at IGI Airport this month as 2,838 grams of cocaine was recovered from a Nigerian lady on Dec 9 who had arrived at New Delhi from Lagos via Dubai.</p>
<p>
This is also the 24th case of seizure of narcotics drugs at the airport this year.&nbsp; As many as 32 drug smugglers have been arrested so far. The estimated value of drug seizures works out to around Rs. 845 crore.</p>
