Private offices & restaurants shut in Delhi as COVID cases surge

Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has ordered the closure of  private offices and restaurants in the national capital to contain the surge in COVID-19 cases.  </p>
<p>
However, banks, insurance companies, courier services, non-banking financial corporations and companies providing essential services will remain open. While earlier the private offices were allowed to function with 50 per cent of their workforce, they will now have to switch completely to work-from-home.</p>
<p>
The DDMA has also ordered that the dine-in service in restaurants and bars will be shut in the national capital. Earlier, the eateries and bars in the capital were allowed to run at 50 per cent capacity.</p>
<p>
However, restaurants will be allowed to provide for home delivery/takeaway services.</p>
<p>
Delhi reported 19,166 new COVID-19 cases on Monday taking the active case load in the city to 65,806.</p>
<p>
As many as 17 persons have died due to coronavirus in the national capital in the past 24 hours.</p>
<p>
