Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023 tomorrow in Lucknow. About 10,000 delegates are expected to participate in the three day summit. Several eminent industry captains will also speak on the occasion.
As UP targets to become a $1 trillion economy in the next five years, the investors summit will be an opportunity for policy makers, corporate leaders, business delegations, academia, think-tanks to come on the same platform and collectively explore business opportunities and forge partnerships.
While the state government initially set a target of attracting investments worth Rs 10 lakh crore from this year’s event, it was later revised to Rs 17.3 lakh crore. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is now planning to organise such summits at the district levels too.
UP authorities have been busy in giving the last minute touches to the summit. The city is ready with big banners, clean roads and newly painted walls.
“We are waiting for the big event, this will further give the state a push and create employment. Each of us in the city is looking forward to the event,” said a shopkeeper selling sarees and kurtas at one of the shops in the city’s Hazratganj area, officially known as Atal Chowk. The area sported a festive look. But what is striking is the presence of a large contingent of police personnel including women officers.
The infrastructure push is visible for anyone who visits the city, which is dotted with pubs, restaurants and high end shops displaying global and domestic brands.
A graffiti painter who was trying to finish an art piece in Gomti Nagar, a relatively new area, claimed that most of his peers have been receiving a “hefty sum of Rs 5,000 per day” from the state government for their work.
Earlier this week, the Comptroller Auditor General of India (CAG) hosted the sixth Shanghai Cooperation Oragnisation’s Supreme Audit Institutions meet in Lucknow as well. Delegates from several countries attended the meet, hosted by CAG GC Murmu.
Later this month Lucknow will also host one of the G20 meetings.
Overall 11 G20 meetings will be held in various cities in UP.
