<strong>Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Tokyo to participate at the QUAD summit at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida, is scheduled to hold a roundtable with top business leaders in Japan. On Monday he met Nobuhiro Endo, the multinational information technology major NEC Corporation and Masayoshi Son, board director, Softbank Group Corporation and discussed the future business opportunities in India.</strong></p>

&ldquo;The Covid-19 pandemic, global tensions and disruptive challenges to stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region have underlined the need for building resilient supply chains, a human-centric development model and stable and strong international economic relations, capable of resisting coercion and exploitation. The bilateral partnership will help advance these goals,&rdquo; Modi said, adding that Japan is partnering India in key sectors including infrastructure, technology, innovation, start-ups and more.</p>

&quot;The Prime Minister appreciated NEC&#39;s role in India&#39;s telecommunication sector, especially in undertaking Chennai-Andaman &amp; Nicobar Islands (Cand Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands (KLI) OFC projects. He also highlighted investment opportunities under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme,&quot; a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.</p>

Modi in his meeting with Endo highlighted India&#39;s reform trajectory. He spoke about opportunities in areas such as digital learning, FinTech, infra and logistics networks,&rdquo; the Prime Minister Office said in a tweet.</p>

SoftBank has invested in several Indian startups besides other big ventures including Paytm and Policybazaar, now listed on the bourses.</p>
<p>
Modi, who is on a two day visit to Japan, is also expected to meet Tadashi Yanai, president, Uniqlo, Osamu Suzuki adviser, Suzuki Motor Corporation among others.</p>
