Will the ‘ISRO culture’ finally find its way into management classes and team building case studies? Members of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) are unanimous in attributing the success of Chandrayaan 3 (CH-3) to the ISRO Culture.
No member of the team, including its leader, is greater than the team, a statement issued by the organisation said.
The ISRO culture, based on overarching flat structure, showcases team work and dedication, a member of the organisation told a TV channel. “Among the many lessons that need to be imbibed from ISRO, inclusivity is key,” a senior member of HAL said, adding that it is no surprise that the organisation is being able to attract the best talent.
As the attention turns towards the approach and landing of CH-3 on the moon, it is the right time to reflect on the making of CH-3, the ISRO statement said. The spacecraft is the result of a collaborative effort, involving a vast array of experts from nearly all ISRO centres and contributions from external partners, it added.
It is evident that a mission like CH-3 requires organized, dedicated and cumulative efforts, supplemented with a thorough and open review mechanism –the spirit of which is collectively referred to as ‘ISRO culture’, the organisation noted.
The successful landing of the spacecraft on the lunar south pole has brought unprecedented cheer — not only to the citizens at large but also India Inc. A host of public and private companies including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Heavy Electricals, DUCOM Aerospace, Smart Technologies, Artha Technologies, Multi Teck Engineering Solutions, Southern Electronics, Avasarala Technologies among others have been part of the journey of the spacecraft.
The successful landing of the homebred spacecraft will also give a fillip to the “Make in India” programme.
Soon after Pragyan, the rover of the spacecraft ramped down, ISRO took to social media X (erstwhile Twitter). “Chandryaan—3 ROVER: Made in India …Made for the MOON!” it said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the success of the CH-3 belongs to all of humanity and it will help moon missions by other countries in the future.
“I’m confident that all countries in the world, including those from the global south, are capable of capturing success. We can all aspire to the moon and beyond,” Modi said, right after the spacecraft landed.
