India’s GST collections cross Rs 1.49 lakh crore in Feb, Maharashtra tops, Karnataka 2nd

India’s total monthly GST revenues during February this year rose to Rs 1,49,577 crore with Maharashtra contributing the highest amount followed by Karnataka and Gujarat in the second and third spot respectively.

The country’s total GST (goods and services tax) collections have now exceeded Rs 1.4 lakh crore for 12 consecutive months reflecting the higher level of  activity in the economy, according to a Finance Ministry statement.

The GST collections in Maharashtra went up to Rs 22,349 crore during February representing a 155 increase over the same month last year.

Gujarat contributed as much as Rs 9,574 crore, followed by Karnataka with Rs 10,809 crore.

Tamil Nadu was at the 4th position with a GST collection of Rs 8,774 crore with Uttar Pradesh making it to the 5th rank (Rs 7,431 crore) with Haryana coming a close 6th  as it contributed Rs 7, 310 crore.

The country’s total GST revenues for the month of February 2023 are 12% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year, which was Rs. 1,33,026 crore. During the month, revenues from import of goods was 6% higher and the revenues from domestic transaction (including import of services) are 15% higher than the revenues from these sources during the same month last year. This month witnessed the highest cess collection of Rs 11,931 crore since implementation of GST. Normally, February being a 28-day month, witnesses a relatively lower collection of revenue.
