Income Tax Dept. conducts search at former NSE chief Chitra Ramakrishna’s Mumbai residence

The Income Tax Department on Thursday carried out searches at the Mumbai residence of Chitra Ramkrishna who was earlier the managing director and chief executive officer of the National Stock Exchange (NSE). </p>
<p>
A senior official confirmed that the searches are being conducted by the investigation wing of the Income Tax Department in Mumbai based on information about alleged tax evasion by the former NSE chief. </p>
<p>
Searches were also underway in Chennai on the premises linked to former NSE official Anand Subramanian. He was was the chief strategic adviser from April 1, 2013 and was re-designated as group operating officer and adviser to Ramkrishna from April 1, 2015 till October 21, 2016.</p>

The tax raid comes close on the heels of stock market regulator SEBI’s finding that Chitra Ramkrishna as the CEO of NSE, shared confidential information including financial projections, business plans and board agenda of the exchange with a purported ‘spiritual guru’ living in the Himalayas.</p>
<p>
The report by the market regulator makes the startling revelation that the nameless' spiritual guru in the Himalayas was influencing key business decisions at the country's largest stock exchange.</p>
<p>
Anand Subramanian is also reported to have been promoted at the behest of the the yogi.</p>
