While Google has gone for massive job cuts to reduce costs, the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai received a total remuneration of about $226 million in 2022, which is more than 800 times the average employee’s pay, the tech giant’s filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.
Pichai’s compensation included stock awards of about $218 million, the filing showed.
Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has been sacking employees and announced plans to cut another 12,000 jobs worldwide in January.
Hundreds of Google employees had staged a walkout at the company’s London offices in protest against the retrenchments earlier this month.
Google staffers had also staged a walkout at the company’s Zurich offices after more than 200 workers were sacked.
