Customs officials at the Mumbai airport seized a total of 4.7 kg of gold worth Rs 2.5 crore and arrested three people in two separate cases, a senior official said on Monday.
In the first case, the Customs department seized 1872 grams of gold, concealed in specially designed undergarments and in the second case 2840 grams of gold hidden in the toilet of the aircraft was recovered during the search. Three people have been arrested in connection with the gold smuggling and further investigation is underway to unravel the network behind the racket, the official said.
