The Commerce Ministry has decided to observe a mega trade event — &lsquo;Vanijya Saptah&rsquo; — Trade &amp; Commerce Week, from 20-26 September. Besides this, the ministry will also organise Vanijya Utsav on 24 and 26 September facilitating exporters meetings and conclaves. This will be held in more than 700 districts.</p>
<p>
An official statement said that under this initiative, &ldquo;handholding sessions&rdquo; for local exporters and entrepreneurs will be held and they will be made to understand the finer details related to foreign trade which include role of lead bank, local export chambers or associations and Export Promotion Councils (EPCs).</p>

The event is part of the &lsquo;Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav&rsquo; celebrations that will be kicked off by the ministry to showcase &ldquo;progressive&rdquo; India&rsquo;s glorious 75 years along with its history.</p>

An official <a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1756243">press statement</a> said that a slew of programmes and events will be organized across the country highlighting Aatmanirbhar Bharat, highlighting India as a rising economic force.</p>
<p>
Meanwhile, according to the State Bank of India&rsquo;s Ecowrap, the country&rsquo;s exporters have already achieved 41 per cent of the total exports target set for the current financial year.</p>
<p>
India had set a target of $400 billion in merchandise exports for the current fiscal year compared to $291.2 billion in the previous fiscal year.</p>
