Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has inaugurated a direct flight from Kolhapur to Bengaluru.
The IndiGo flight will operate on all 7 days of the week. The flight will depart from Bengaluru and 2:50 pm and arrive in Kolhapur at 4:45 pm. The return flight will leave Kolhapur at 5:05 pm and land in Bengaluru at 6:50 pm. The airline will operate an ATR-72 twin engine turboprop plane on this route.
In his inaugural address, the minister said an investment of Rs 245 crore has been finalised for the construction of a new airport terminal, expansion of the runway, and the establishment of an ATC tower at the Kolhapur airport.
“Furthering the vision and mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to connect every corner of India, with the inauguration of this route Kolhapur is connected with Hyderabad, Tirupati, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and today, India’s silicon capital Bengaluru,” Mr Scindia said.
The minister further emphasized that with the commencement of this connectivity, new opportunities will rise and benefit people of both cities.
The MoS for civil aviation Gen. Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh (Rtd.) and senior officials of the government and IndiGo were also present on the occasion.
