Customs officials seize 4.64 kg smuggled gold in Kolkata

<p>
The Customs Department on Saturday seized 4.64 kg of gold in Kolkata that had been smuggled into the country. Foreign currency was also recovered in the search and the total value of the seizure works out to Rs 3.23 crore.</p>

Customs Department said its officials swung into action based on intelligence reports and recovered 40 gold bars, each weighing 116 gm, from the premises of the smugglers on Marquise Street in Kolkata,</p>

After a quick follow up inquiry, authorities also recovered Rs 93 lakh in cash, which includes both Indian and foreign currencies. The total worth of the entire seizure is Rs 3.23 crore, according to the Customs Department.</p>

Further investigation is in progress in the case.</p>
