PM Narendra Modi's focus on employment
Coal India Ltd is continuing with an aggressive recruitment drive to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to provide job opportunities to the youth while ensuring the welfare of citizens.
CIL, which has carried out the recruitment drive since July 2022, has issued a total of 7,268 appointment letters, surpassing the target of 3,969, representing an impressive growth of 83.11 per cent. In August 2023, a total of 574 appointment letters were issued against a target of 465.
An official statement said that NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has also exhibited exceptional commitment by issuing 528 appointment letters, surpassing the set target of 480 as on September 19, 2023, indicating a growth of 10 per cent. In July this year, NLCIL had a target of 75 but the company outperformed by issuing 149 appointment letters.
Earlier, Union Minister of state for science and technology Jitendra Singh said that the NDA government has managed to create more than 9 lakh government jobs. The previous UPA government provided 6 lakhs jobs.
The Narendra Modi government has also been holding Rozgar Melas across the country.
Prime Minister Modi launched the first phase of Rozgar Mela in October 2022. More than 75,000 newly appointed recruits were taken on board in the first phase.
The recruitment drive acts as a catalyst in employment generation and provides opportunities to the youth in shaping their bright future, the government’s press statement said.
