As anti-China sentiments grow across the world, Indian buyers are boycotting Chinese goods, according to a study published by the Local Circles, a community social media platform.

More than 71 per cent of the Indian customers consciously opted not to buy Made in China products, said the study. Only 29 per cent of Indian consumers purchased Chinese products this festival season.

The study also revealed that when a similar question was asked in November 2019, 48 per cent of the consumers had admitted of buying China-made products, indicating 40 per cent year-on-year reduction in the absolute number of consumers who purchased Chinese products during the festive season.

The recent study was carried out in 204 districts across India between 10-15 November, a total of 14,000 people were questioned.

The study also revealed that the Indians preferred value purchase. About 66 per cent of the respondents said that they prefer Chinese products because the products offer higher value for money, 13 per cent said it was the “uniqueness” of the products and 25 per cent said they were unsure.

“Indian consumers continue to prefer low-cost products that offer value for money and that is where Made in China products enter the Indian retail markets as a perfect match. China sells all cheap and best products that Indian consumers need – from gadgets and smartphones to festive lighting, and from toys to vehicle accessories,” the study said.
.
