60 new Dak Niryat Kendras to come up in Karnataka by Aug. 15

With the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi providing many incentives and facilities to boost exports, the Indian Posts too is playing its part in this initiative. In Karnataka for instance, the State Postal Circle is all set to open 60 more export facilitation centres or Dak Niryat Kendras.

The new DNKs will be opened at all the head-offices in the State along with a few in some sub-post offices. The Karnataka Postal Circle has decided to set all these up by August 15, the Independence Day.

Talking to the media about this, S. Rajendra Kumar, Chief Postmaster General said that these DNKs will be opened near the place of production thereby benefitting manufacturers. He added that all the 56 head post offices will have such a centre shortly, with three of them already functioning.

Manufacturers can submit documents relating to export items online while booking the parcels in any of the Niryat Kendras. From there the goods will be sent to Bengaluru with customs clearance done at the Foreign Post Office in Chamarajpet.

In the past traders and manufacturers had to send their personnel to come down to Bengaluru and get the clearance for their international consignments. This is not required anymore, Kumar said.

Other facilities that customers can avail of include pick-up facility for bulk customers, packaging solutions, guidance on customers documentation and generation of Import Export Code.

At present 10 DNKs are operational. These are in Chamarajpet and Dooravani Nagar in Bengaluru, Saraswatipuram, Mysuru, Dharwad, Channapatna, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Bidar and Belagavi.

This facilitation centre has already proved beneficial for many manufacturers. Kumar cited the example of the DNK in Belagavi which has enabled a homoeopathic outlet based there to start despatching medicines to the United States easily. He added that this way the manufacturers will be able to boost their exports manifold as the despatch centre will be close to them and the process involved is simple.
