Usually the employees of delivery apps like Swiggy, Zomato, and others are at the receiving end from the customers either for arriving late with the food or bringing the wrong order.

But there are exceptions and a recent one finds mentions in Twitter. Shared by a user, Sachin Kalbag, it talks about an incident in which a Zomato delivery person, who despite having his wallet stolen, didn’t flinch from his duty and delivered food to the customer.

Narrating the incident, Kalbag in his post wrote that his wife had ordered from an eating outlet around five kilometres from their house. Though it was specified that the rider will reach in 10 minutes, when he did not arrive, they called him and gathered that from the delivery person, Manish Bhageluram Gupta, that the delay was because his wallet had been stolen from the outlet he had picked up their order. He went to assure them that he would be there in five minutes and he was.

On coming to know his plight, Kalbag’s wife asked the rider to first trace the stolen wallet, but he refused, preferring to deliver their order.

Kalbag then clicked Gupta’s picture and posted it on Twitter with his message.

Gupta was very concerned about losing his licence and also the cash he had collected from the customers. Later Kalbag contacted him to know if he had managed to find the wallet and on coming to know he hadn’t, transferred money into Gupta’s wife’s account and also promised to help him in getting a duplicate licence.

Kalbag posted the story to highlight Gupta’s commitment to his work despite his personal problem. While many appreciated the delivery person’s honesty and work ethics, there were others who criticised the delivery platforms for being rather harsh on their employees.
