With the winter slowly making its presence felt, the Lucknow district administration has launched a welfare scheme for the poor and needy in the city under which people can donate woollen clothes for them.
The district administration has embarked on this project in collaboration with the Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
As many as eight centres have been set up across the Lucknow city where donors can donate both new as well as used clothes as per a report in the Times of India. On receiving these garment, the assigned centre coordinators will make proper arrangements for the distribution of these collected clothes among the poor and needy people.
The District Magistrate of Lucknow, Abhishek Prakash told the media those desirous of donating clothes can login on the official website of the Lucknow district administration (lucknow.nic.in) to know more details and for any queries regarding this scheme.
Moreover, for the convenience of the donors, a large number of collection points have been set up in the zonal offices of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC). This will enable people to either visit these offices and collections points in their respective areas for giving the clothes or sending them by post.
Further, helpline numbers have been set up for people to contact the authorities following which a person will be sent to the donor’s house for collection of the clothes. These helpline numbers are: 0522-2307783, 0522-2307782, 6389115001, 6389115002, 6389115003.
The DM also told the media that at present Lucknow has 36 shelter homes, of which 20 are permanent while the 16 are temporary, and at these homes the collected clothes will be distributed.
