A 24-year-old tribal woman delivered a baby boy in an ambulance as a wild elephant came out of the forest and blocked the road leading to the hospital in Erode district of Tamil Nadu.

Medical staff said the woman’s family put her in the ambulance to take her to hospital as she went into labour pain on Thursday. However, since a wild elephant emerged for the forest and stood across the road, the ambulance could not move ahead on the road in in the Anthiyur Bargur hills.

The ambulance was reported to be stuck for over an hour on the road as the elephant refused to budge.

Meanwhile, the woman developed pain and the team in the ambulance helped the woman give birth to a baby boy in the ambulance itself.

A few minutes after the baby was born, the beast left and the medical staff admitted the woman and the baby to a rural health centre. They are both reported to be in good health.
