India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala on 22nd May, in the weather bulletin issued today.
It has also predicted light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry today.
The weather office bulletin also forecasts:
*Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya during 22nd to 26th and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura on 24th – 26th May.
*Widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim.
*Wet spell over northwest India due to an active Western Disturbance during 23rd to 25th May.
This will bring rainfall at most places with thunderstorms, lightning with wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph likely at places over Uttarakhand on 24th & 25th and over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on 24th May.
*Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the next 2 days.
