India Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds of 45-50 kmph as very likely over the southern states during the next 4 days.
* Heavy to very Heavy rainfall at isolated places in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema region during 1st to 3rd May after which it will gradually decrease, today’s weather bulletin stated.
*The IMD has also predicted that a hailstorm is very likely at isolated places over Telangana on 1st and May.
West India:
Hailstorm activity is very likely at isolated places over Maharashtra’s Marathawada region on 1st & 2nd May.
North India
*Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Northwest India (Jammu region, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh on 1st & 2nd May) and decrease thereafter
*Hailstorm activity very likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand during next 5 days; over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Himachal Pradesh & Uttar Pradesh during 1st & 2nd May
*Maximum temperatures are very likely to be below normal to near normal during the next 5 days.
Northeast India:
*Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during 1st-4th May.
Action suggested during thunderstorms:
*Stay indoors, close windows & doors and avoid travel if possible.
*Take safe shelters; do not take shelter under trees.
*Do not lie on concrete floors and do not lean against concrete walls.
*Unplug electrical/ electronic appliances.
*Immediately get out of water bodies.
*Keep away from all the objects that conduct electricity.
*Postpone harvesting of green gram and black gram in Tamil Nadu
*Complete harvesting of matured rice in Kerala, Odisha and Interior Karnataka during clear weather.
