Watch: Umran Malik rattles Shanto’s off stump with a 151 kmph delivery

Struggling at 69/6 at one stage, hosts Bangladesh finished at a credible 271/7 after electing to bat first in the second one-dayer against India in Mirpur on Wednesday.

Bangladesh owed its remarkable comeback to Mehidy Hasan who remained unbeaten on 100 – his first ODI ton – and was involved in a 148-run partnership with Mahmudullah (77) for the seventh wicket – Bangladesh’s highest ODI partnership for any wicket against India.

India began well by sending both Bangladeshi openers, including skipper Litton Das, back to the pavilion inside the first 10 overs.

Young pacer Umran Malik, who bowled a blazing first over, cranking up a speed of 151 kmph, then got the better of Najmul Shanto as the hosts slipped to 52/3.

The Kashmiri pace sensation turned up the heat on a slow Mirpur track, earning accolades from former greats.

He also got the much-needed breakthrough later with the wicket of Mahmudullah, breaking the record partnership.

Malik eventually returned with figures of 2/58 from his 10 overs with Washington Sundar claiming three victims and Mohd Siraj also taking two wickets.
