Virat Kohli has credited compatriot Suryakumar Yadav for playing some “amazing” cricket and creating a “different template” with his scintillating knocks for Team India.
“I have been playing for many years now, but what you have done and accomplished last year is something that is very very special, something that I haven’t witnessed before,” said Kohli after scoring an 87-ball 113 against Sri Lanka in Guwahati.
India beat Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the first ODI of the series with Kohli being adjudged Player of the Match.
In a special conversation for BCCI, he was interviewed by Suryakumar Yadav after the game.
Kohli instead began by praising Yadav for his good show over the past year.
Having gone through the long journey himself, Kohli told Yadav that expectations will rise from him as he continues to excel with the bat.
“I can see the crowd when you go out to bat. There is always genuine love from them because of the way you have been playing. Now people have started to look at you differently. Keeping up with that is an extremely intense process,” he said.
