Shardul dismissed opener Innocent Kaia and Zimbabwe captain Regis Chakabva who were both caught. He then followed it up it with a fantastic yorker to castle Luke Jongwe in the 33rd over.
India packed off Zimbabwe for a modest 61 after choosing to field.
Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson came up with a scintillating knock of 43 to take India to a five-wicket victory with 146 balls to spare.
