WATCH: Renowned actress Asha Parekh receives Dada Saheb Phalke Award

The 80th birthday of veteran actress Asha Parekh will indeed be special as she received the coveted Dada Saheb Phalke Award from President Droupadi Murmu today.

She was bestowed the 52nd Dada Saheb Phalke Award at the 68th National Film Awards ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

Associated with films since 1952, Asha Parekh is known for her acting in films like “Dil Deke Dekho”, “Kati Patang”, “Teesri Manzil”, and “Caravan”, Parekh thanked the Government of India for the honour. Before she was conferred the award, a short film as a tribute to the veteran actress was screened.

The Award which was instituted in 1969 was conferred on cine star Rajinikanth for the year 2019.

Popular actor Ajay Devgn received two awards at the function. He shared the Best Actor Award for his performance in the Hindi movie “Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero” with actor Suriya who won the same award for the Tamil film “Soorarai Pottru”. The other award which Devgn got was as the  producer of “Tanhaji: The…”, which won the Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

The award for Best Actress went to Aparrna Balamurali for “Soorarai Pottru”.  This film also got the Best Feature Film.
