Argentina star Lionel Messi received a guard of honour as he returned to the Paris Saint-Germain training centre on Wednesday after winning the World Cup last month.
The world champion was warmly welcomed by his teammates, staff and club collaborators. The Parisian number 30 also received a trophy for the occasion.
“Welcome back Leo,” said the tweet from the club’s official account along with a video of the 35-year-old arriving at the training centre, putting his Parisian tunic and being welcomed onto the pitch with a guard of honour by staff and his teammates, including Brazil star Neymar.
After his training, Messi thanked the club for the welcome he received.
“I want to thank everyone for the welcome I received, from all the staff, my teammates and the staff. I’m happy, and I’m going to prepare for the upcoming deadlines.
“I will prepare myself physically, train well, find the rhythm to be ready when the staff decides that I can play,” he said.
