Come Makar Sankranti, and the skies of Ahmedabad are adorned with kites of all shapes and sizes. It is the same this year too as the International Kite Festival or Patang Utsav 2023 is underway.
The enthusiasm this time is much more as the festival is being organised after a two-year hiatus.

Like earlier years, kite flyers and makers from all over the world have congregated to showcase their creations and their techniques.
After a two-year hiatus, Ahmedabad is all set to see full-fledged participation at the #MakarSankranti special kite festival, on till January 14.

The event was inaugurated by Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat Chief Minister, who said this year’s festival is being celebrated with the theme of G-20, that is Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

The festival is being organised at Sabarmati Riverfront and is seeing participation by 125 kite flyers from 68 countries, 65 kite flyers from 14 States and more than 660 kite flyers from various districts of Gujarat. The countries participating include Australia, Canada, France, Russia, Germany, Greece, Israel, Egypt, Colombia, and Denmark among others.
