While winter brings its own set of woes and problems, it also provides scenic beauty to the landscape in North India especially during snowfalls. Among the places that witnessed snowfall were Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Jammu and Kashmir.
All these regions are expecting a boost in tourism with people from India and abroad flocking to watch the white covering the landscape.
Uttarakhand received a fresh spell of snowfall with higher reaches of the region getting covered in snow. Joshimath, Auli in Chamoli district and Gangotri Dham, the pilgrimage centre, were among some of the areas that received snow.

Himachal Pradesh also displayed similar scenes as Narkanda town and Kinnaur got covered with fresh snow.

Known worldwide for its snow-capped mountains, Jammu and Kashmir saw heavy snowing while in Sonamarg area it triggered an avalanche.

The picturesque State of Sikkim in the north east turned into a white fairyland as it received fresh snowfall.

India Meteorological Department has predicted more snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and also in other areas. Temperatures are likely to drop in Northern India.
