Watch: Brave guard forces hippo to retreat as zoo visitors face danger

A video of an aggressive hippopotamus trying to climb out of its enclosure reportedly at the Delhi Zoo has gone viral. The security guard stands his ground as he slaps the hippo on the face in his effort to force the beast back into the water. Each time the security guard hits the hippo, the beast retaliates viciously by opening its mouth and snapping its jaw.

At one point the guard appears to be taking out his phone to call for help but then the hippo suddenly retreats into the water.

Hippos are very dangerous animals that fiercely guard their territory and are known to kill several human beings in Africa every year.
