Video: World’s oldest railway engine on trial run at Chennai before Independence Day celebrations

Indian Railways will carry out a heritage run of a 167-year-old locomotive, the world's oldest working steam engine to commemorate the 75th Independence Day celebrations on Monday.</p>

In a video shared on Twitter by DRM Chennai, the 167-year-old locomotive is seen whistling as it goes on a trial run before the Independence Day celebrations.</p>
<p>
The southern railway will hold the special heritage run by EIR-21 between Egmore and Kodambakkam railway stations in Chennai, according to an Indian Railways statement.</p>
<p>
The Express EIR-21 was first shipped to India from England in 1855. Ever since its withdrawal in 1901, it was kept as an exhibit in the railways Jamalpur workshop in Bihar for over 100 years.</p>
<p>
"The beautiful sound of the whistle will send you back to the times of the steam locomotive from the days gone by," DRM Chennai wrote.</p>
