Video of Dhoni strapping injured left knee to bat in IPL match goes viral

A video of CSK skipper MS Dhoni strapping his troublesome left knee during the IPL match has gone viral on social media.

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan said on Wednesday that Dhoni would seek expert opinion from sports orthopedic specialists in Mumbai on the state of his left knee to decide on the course of treatment.

Dhoni gave the first clear indication of his retirement plans on Tuesday night after the team won the IPL title for a record-equalling 5th time.

He had said that he would like to play for another IPL season as a gift to his loving fans. “But a lot depends on the body. It would take 6-7 months to decide,” Dhoni remarked. The statement appears to have been made in the backdrop of the state of his left knee.

He said if he continued to play in the next season, it would be more like a gift from my side. It’s not easy for me but the way they have shown their love and affection, that’s something that I need to do,” the CSK skipper said at the prize presentation ceremony after the match.
