Video: Man arrested for throwing eggs at King Charles

A man was arrested by police on Wednesday after eggs were thrown at King Charles and Camilla, the Queen Consort, as they attending an event in northern England.

Video footage of the incident shows four eggs flying past King Charles and his wife and smashing on the ground as they arrive for a traditional ceremony in York. They ignored the incident and continued with the engagement.

Police officers immediately rushed to drag away the protester who was shouting slogans. Others in the crowd jeered him, and chanted: “God save the king”.

The man was heard to shout “this country was built on the blood of slaves” as he was restrained. The man, a University of York student, was held on suspicion of a public order offence and remains in custody, according to a BBC report.

“A 23-year-old man was arrested on a suspicion of a public order offence following an incident on Micklegate in York,” police said in a statement. “He currently remains in police custody.”
