A family in Jaitia village of Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district got the shock of their life as they woke in the middle of the night to find a 8-foot-long hungry crocodile crawling around the house in search of prey.
“We don’t know how it entered the house. When we heard the goats bleating at night, we realised something was wrong and found a crocodile,” the owner of the house Harnam Singh said.
The incident took place at around 10.30 pm which is very late by village standards.
The scared villagers informed the local police, who in turn got in touch with wildlife expert Dr Ashish Tripathi.
Dr Tripathi advised them to lock the house for the night and the rescue operation began at the break of dawn. The crocodile was then captured in an hour-long operation led by Dr Tripathi and handed over to the forest department.
Dr Tripathi said the crocodile is 1.5 to 2 years old and is very aggressive. So it was decided to carry ot the rescue operation during the day to make things easier and reduce the risk of harm to reptile as well as humans.
