Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the director of The Kashmir Files has been granted Y-category security even as the film broke another box office record by grossing over Rs 100 crore in the first week of its release.&nbsp;</p>

The security cover has been provided to the director based on the perception of the threat he faces after the film&rsquo;s release. The CRPF security will accompany the director across India.</p>
<p>
Under the Y-category security, Agnihotri will be provided with a security cover of eight officers, which is likely to have two commandos and police personnel.</p>
<p>
The low-budget film has also got embroiled in a political debate. Supporters of the movie, set during the violent upheaval of 1989-90 and the present day, say it highlights an ignored chapter of Kashmir&rsquo;s history. However, critics say it fans anti-Muslim sentiment.</p>

The film also got Prime Minister Narendra Modi&rsquo;s approval as he pointed out in a speech that an &ldquo;entire ecosystem was trying to sabotage and discredit a film that is telling the truth.&rdquo;</p>

Anupam Kher, who plays the role of Pushkarnath Pandit, in The Kashmir Files shared the news that the film has crossed the Rs 100 crore-mark in the first week after release.
