Telangana’s second rail coach restaurant at Hyderabad offers a big spread

The newly-inaugurated rail coach restaurant which has been started at Necklace Road, Hyderabad offers multi-cuisine food

With Indian Railways becoming inventive and putting old coaches to varied uses including restaurants, another such outlet has come up in Telangana. The South Central Railway’s Secunderabad Division has started a Rail Coach Restaurant at its Necklace Road Railway Station premises in Hyderabad.

This is the second coach restaurant offering a unique dining experience after the one in Kacheguda Station which was started in July this year. Sharing details about the restaurant, an official of Secunderabad Divisoin, SCR told India Narrative: “The outlet will serve multi-cuisine fare. It will include North Indian, South Indian, Chinese, tandoori and chaat dishes.”

Sharing names of some of the delicacies available for the readers of India Narrative, the official said: “The restaurant is offering soups, vegetarian finger chips, boiled corn, malai kofta, paneer butter masala, butter chicken biryani, both vegetarian and non-veg, chicken tikka, tandoori chicken, roti, naan among other dishes.”

NRRS is one of the busiest rail stations in the suburban network of the twin cities – Hyderabad and Secunderabad — having lots of picnic spots around its vicinity. This results in a good number of tourist’s footfall daily and to provide them a different dining experience this station was chosen to set up a coach restaurant. For this purpose, an unused coach was completely refurbished with modern and aesthetic interiors.

The multi-cuisine restaurant has been opened at the vacant space in the circulating area of NRRS and it will cater to both the rail passengers as well as the common public. It offers both dine-in and take away facilities to the customers. “To cater to the needs of the large number of people who visit this place and its vicinity, the restaurant will be kept open all days from 12.30 p.m. to 11 p.m.,” the SCR official informed IN.

The operation of this outlet has been awarded to M/s. Boomerang Restaurant, Hyderabad for a period of five years. Highlighting the strict hygiene standards that will be maintained at the outlet, the official told India Narrative “the contractor has obtained Food Safety and Standards Authority of India licence.” He added: “Frequent checks will be conducted to ensure hygiene and quality.”

Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR complimenting Secunderabad Division for coming up with the unique initiative said that “food connoisseurs in the twin cities will get another distinctive food service option available in the city region.”
