Epitomising the syncretic culture of India, a young Muslim girl from Telangana has translated Bhagavad Gita, a revered holy scripture of Hindus into Urdu.
Heba Fathima who hails from Rakasi Pet locality in Bodhan town of Nizamabad district not just studied the Gita but also translated 700 slokas from the 18 Chapters of the scripture into Urdu in merely three months.
Displaying her ample understanding of the holy book, she also wrote a book titled “Similarities between Bhagavad Gita and Quran” in a language that is easy to understand. Her efforts have received praise and appreciation from people from across different faiths.
Fathima was driven by her inquisitiveness to know about other religions to study Bhagavad Gita. Talking to the media she said that translating took a lot of time as she wanted to know the exact meaning of some words. She said the translation has been kept simple so that the readers can easily understand how to lead their life.
Having studied both the Quran and Gita she found 500 verses and slokas in them respectively, which conveyed the same meaning. And these have been included in her book.
Using the visual medium, she is also running on YouTube channel Message For All which explains Bhagavad Gita in Urdu. Till now she has uploaded 100 videos on the channel.
For all these efforts, her name has been entered in the World Wide Book of Records, Marvellous Book of Records, International Book of Records, India Book of Records, Telugu Book of Records and Magic Book of Records.
At present Fathima is pursuing her post-graduation in English. She completed her intermediate in Urdu medium and later for her graduation she switched to English as the medium. a MA (English) student. She completed her education up to intermediate. Ahmed Khan, her father, is a small-scale trader.
