Two brothers aged 5 and 7 years were mauled to death by stray dogs in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area in two shocking incidents over the last three days, according to local police.

The first incident took place on Friday when seven-year-old Anand was mauled by stray dogs in the Sindhi Camp slums built on forest land.

A senior police officer said that on March 10, at around 3 p.m. information was received regarding a seven-year-old child going missing in Vasant Kunj. After a search, Anand’s body was found in a secluded place with multiple bite marks.

The second attack took place on Sunday when the stray dogs pounced on five-year-old Aditya when he stepped out of his house to relieve himself, a relative of the boy said. Aditya was the younger brother of Anand.

Terming it as negligence of the civic body, BJP Councillor from the area, Inderjeet Sherawat, said, “In a month, I have complained to the MCD department multiple times to catch stray dogs in the area, but the department said they do not have the logistics to do that as their contract hasn’t been renewed.”
