Dandagi was operated upon at the KLES Hospital in Belagavi where he underwent craniotomy or the removal surgically of part of the bone from the skull to expose the brain for surgery.

The officials of the Jeevasarthakathe, the Government body which oversees cadaver organ donation in Karnataka — initiated the procedure and process of organ donation. They took a written consent from the members of Dandagi’s family.
