History was created for Indian cinema specially its songs which are an integral part of the movies, as “RRR”, the epic action drama in Telugu, won the Best Original Song Award at the Golden Globe in Los Angeles.
Directed by S.S. Rajamouli of the famed Bahubali movies, the song “Naatu Naatu” in the film beat “Carolina” in the movie “Where The Crawdads Sing”; “Ciao Papa” (“Pinocchio”); “Hold My Hand” (“Top Gun: Maverick”) and “Lift Me Up” (“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”).
This film is represented at the Golden Globe Awards by SS Rajamouli, actors Jr NTR and Ram Charan, who essay the roles of the two main protagonists. M.M. Keeravani, the composer of the film, accepted the award on behalf of “RRR”.
Other actors in the movie are Bollywood’s popular stars, Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt, and British artists, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris. The film set in the 1920s revolves around the fictional friendship between two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Rama Rao) and their fight against British colonial rulers.
The film has grossed more than Rs.1,200 crores globally and won a number of international awards including the Best Director at the New York Film Critics Circle awards.
“RRR” was also nominated for the Best Non-English Language Film category which was won by “Argentina, 1985” from Argentina.
