Making a selfless gesture, Anjali Kanwar, a bride in Rajasthan, is an apt example for other girls in the country to emulate. Before her wedding to Praveen Singh was solemnised, she requested her father, Kishore Singh Kanod, to use the dowry money set aside for her, to be used to construct a girls’ hostel.

Kanwar tied the knot on November 21 and is reported to have had a word with her father about spending the Rs.75 lakh he had kept aside for her dowry for the women’s hostel. The father readily agreed to her daughter’s selfless wish.

Anjali’s selfless act not only became viral on the social media but also got her widespread praise for lending a helping hand in getting the facility for women built. A media report in Dainik Jagran was shared by Tribhuwan Singh Rathore, the Rawat of Barmer.

The bride also conveyed her request and its acceptance to the present head of Taratara math, Mahant Pratap Puri, following her wedding. Her decision was also put in a letter by her which was read out to all the guests attending her wedding, all of whom were appreciative of her act.

It is reported that her father, Kanod had earlier donated Rs.1 crore for the construction of this girls’ hostel and when additional Rs.75 lakh was needed to finish it, his daughter stepped in.

It is also reported that impressed by his daughter, Kanod gave her a blank cheque, asking her to fill the amount essential for completing the hostel.
