Rain may play spoilsport on Day 4 of India vs Australia WTC final

Rain may play spoilsport in the India versus Australia World Test Championship Final on Day 4 being played at London’s Oval ground.

According to local weather reports there is a 70% probability of heavy rain during the afternoon on Saturday which is expected to halt play at least for a few hours.

India had managed to recover some lost ground after a complete collapse of the top batting order in the first innings with a gritty 109-run stand for the seventh wicket between Ajinkya Rahane (89) and Shardul Thakur (51).

Rahane and Thakur mounted a rearguard action to reduce the massive run deficit aided by some luck as catches were dropped and dismissals were ruled out due to No-Balls.  Australia had a 173-run advantage after amassing a massive 469 total in the first innings.

However, in the second innings Indian pacers struck early to dismiss the Australia openers.  Then as Steven Smith (34) and Marnus Labuschagne (41*) appeared all set to steady the innings in a second wicket partnership,  Ravindra Jadeja (2/25) struck to dismiss dangerman  Smith and followed it up with the wicket of Travis Head (18) to put India back in the game. Australia now have six wickets in hand with a lead of 296 runs.
