A poor Madhya Pradesh fisherman&rsquo;s daughter who grew up rowing a fishing boat will represent India at the Asian rowing championships to be held in Thailand from March 24 to 27.</p>

The 17-year-old Kaveri Dhimar took to rowing a boat with her sisters to fish in dam backwaters as their poor father was under a Rs 45,000 debt which he could not repay.</p>
<p>
Packing extraordinary grit and courage, she has made the great leap from a fishing boat to national canoe champion winning as many as 7 gold medals at the national canoe sprint championship held in Himachal Pradesh last year.</p>

Kaveri was awarded a Rs 11 lakh cheque by MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday in appreciation of her achievements. The Chief Minister told her that the government will support all her needs. He said, &ldquo;Keep playing and keep winning, the state government is with you at every step.&rdquo;</p>

Her family does not own any land and her aim in life is to buy land so that life becomes easier for the family which lives at Mandi village in Sehore district of the state.</p>
