Having met her unfortunate end at the tender age of 10, a girl from Maharashtra has given a lease of life to three persons. Hailing from Chikhali village in Pune district, she had died in a road accident.

The heart of the girl has been successfully transplanted to a one-year-old girl at Fortis hospital in Mumbai. A seven-year-old girl at Jupiter Hospital in Pune received the liver and one of her kidneys was given to a 37-year-old woman at the Command hospital.

These transplants took place on Monday as per Aarti Gokhale, the Chief Transplant Coordinator, Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre, Pune.

The donor girl’s family lives in a slum area of Kudalwadi in Chikhali. The CEO of Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical Hospital informed the media that this girl met with a road accident and was admitted on October 24.

On November 6, she was declared brain dead. The doctors and staff counselled the parents who collect scrap from households to donate their daughter’s organs and they agreed. As per Gokhale, this girl becomes the youngest donor of Pune zone’s ZTCC.

The girl met with the accident on October 24 on Deepavali night. According to her father, while the puja was going on, she had gone out to fetch water when she was hit by a speeding two-wheeler. The driver was apprehended and handed over to the cops.
