Noida slum girl helps unite 2-year-old lost child with his family

<p>
<strong>Though just a 14-year-old, Kashish Kumari living in a Noida slum cluster, set a stellar example of presence of mind and empathy as she helped a lost child reunite with his family.</strong></p>
<p>
Kumari, daughter of a rickshaw puller and Class X Government school student, who found a two-year-old child going around all alone, enquired from the passers-by if they knew about him. On receiving no suitable reply, she did not abandon him and instead took him home to ensure his safety.</p>
<p>
Meanwhile, the Noida police was informed about the missing child by the family living in Gijhod village at 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday.</p>

Sharing details about the incident, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Rajesh S said following the incident which had taken place in the jurisdiction of Sector-24 police station, two teams were formed to be headed by Rajneesh Verma, ACP (Noida 2).</p>

The DCP said: “One team started analysing CCTV footage of the area while the other went around in search of the missing child and asking locals for any clue. Around 1 a.m., police got a clue after the child was spotted in CCTV footage walking on a street. We saw in the footage that Kashish found the child and enquired with people to find out who his parents or guardians were.”</p>
<p>
Following the lead, the police search party reached Kumari’s house and who was trying to make the child asleep.</p>
<p>
Praising Kumari, the DCP commented: "This was an act of an aware citizen which helped us find the child and reunite him with his family.”</p>
<p>
While the police team will receive Rs.25,000 for their effort, Kumari was felicitated and given some books as a gift.</p>
<p>
Noida Police Commissioner Alok Singh has announced a special award for Kumari.</p>
