The net worth of the Lord Venkateswara temple, which is one of the richest in the country, has been estimated at Rs 2.3 lakh crore.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, the trust that manages the temple, has declared its net worth for the first time since its founding in 1933.
The temple trust said it has 10.3 tonnes of gold deposits in nationalised banks worth more than Rs 5,300 crore at the prevailing market prices.
Besides, it has 2.5 tonnes of gold jewellery, most of which are antique pieces that are considered priceless. Besides, it has cash deposits in banks to the tune of around Rs 16,000 crore.
The list of the temple’s assets includes 960 properties across India with a total area of 7,123 acres. These are valued at around Rs 85,705 crore, according to TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy.
