India’s Neeraj Chopra won the javelin throw event at the Lausanne Diamond League 2023 on Saturday with a best throw of 87.66 metres surpassing Julain Weber of Germany who came second with a throw of 87.03 metres.
At the end of the third round, Neeraj Chopra remained at the second spot with a throw of 85.04 metres and then faltered in the fourth. However, in his fifth attempt the Tokyo Olympics gold medallist came up with the big throw to surpass Weber and clinch the title.
Neeraj returned to action after a one-month injury lay-off. The 25-year-old superstar had earlier made a perfect start to the Diamond League season with a top podium finish in Doha on May 5.
