Moved by little boy’s tears, Chennai cops act swiftly to nab thief who stole his bicycle

Chennai DCP Karthikeyan returns the stolen bike to Krish personally

Moved by the tears and dejection of a young boy whose bicycle had been stolen, the Chennai Police swung into quick action and retrieved the stolen bike. The seven-year-old boy, Krish, was in for a surprise when the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Karthikeyan visited him at home to handover the bicycle.

As per ABP Nadu’s report, Krish had lost his expensive cycle which was parked outside, on February 3 while he was playing at home on Purasawalkam High Road. Realising that somebody was taking his cycle, he rushed outside and chased the thief but couldn’t keep up.

His parents, both of whom are doctors, lodged a complaint. The cops scanned the CCTV footage and found the person who had committed the theft.

Karthikeyan told the media that he was very moved by the footage showing the kid chasing the thief and decided to personally supervise the case. The thief was tracked down to Shenoy Nagar and apprehended. Admitting his crime, he revealed the whereabouts of the cycle.

Making an extra effort, Karthikeyan handed over the cycle to Krish at his doorstep. He also told the media that the accused who was a misguided youngster was sent to a rehabilitation centre and instead of an FIR, a community service register had filed against him.
