Maradona, a professional football player and later a manager, had led Argentina to victory in the Football World Cup victory in 1986 as a captain. He again led the team in the 1990 World Cup. Considered one of the greatest players of all time, he died in November 2020 due to heart attack.

Providing further information about the Hublot watch, the Assam Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta informed the Press that the watch belonged to the player himself, "which was being stored in Dubai along with other belongings in a safe."

The official added: "As informed through central agency by the Dubai Police, one Wazid Hussain had stolen a limited edition Maradona signed Hublot watch and fled to Assam. Today morning at 4:00 am we arrested Wazid Hussian from his residence in Sibsagar. The limited edition watch has been recovered from him.”

During the FIFA World Cup 2010, Maradona was seen wearing two Hublot Big Bang watches – the Hublot Maradona Big Bang Chronograph — when this limited edition was launched.

The legend’s photograph with his arms raised in victory is engraved on the back of the watch along with his signatures and jersey number 10.
