Popular Malayalam actor Kunchacko Boban was caught by surprise when he saw his picture in one of the school textbooks of Karnataka identifying him as a postman.
The actor who brought it to the notice of the public instead of taking offence enjoyed the mistake and cracked a joke about it.
Expressing his happiness at finally getting a Government job since it is considered to be more stable than private sector jobs, the actor on his Instagram account posted the screenshot from the textbook which shows him as a postman and wrote: “Finally managed to get a government job in Karnataka. The prayers of the postman who delivered letters all those years ago.”
The picture is a still from Kunchacko’s 2010 movie “Oridathoru Postman” directed by Shaji Aziz, in which he essayed the role of a village postman. Playing the character of Raghu, a dedicated and hardworking man, the film is about Boban, trying to resolve the villagers’ concerns and how meeting Yasin Mubarak (Sarath Kumar), changes his life.
The actor’s post got some funny responses from his colleagues. Director Midhun Manuel Thomas wrote: “So how is it going to be? You won’t get leave just when you have got a job. I have started writing the script. Please inbox me Raju’s number when you get time.”
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Government clarified that the textbook was not published by them but by a private firm in Hubli. They also stated that none of the textbooks published by Karnataka Text Book Society have featured the photograph.
Boban has a number of movies, including Tamil-Malayalam bilingual “Rendagam”, “Pakalum Paathiraavan”, and “Ariyippu” in the pipeline.
